Next year, DreamWorks? ?Need for Speed? (starring Aaron Paul and Kid Cudi) may not be the only racing series to hit the big screen, as Mike De Luca and Dana Brunetti have revealed Sony has given them the green light to direct an upcoming film. With the success of ?The Fast and the Furious? series, Sony wants to jump aboard and ride the wave (so to speak) bringing in their most popular series and biggest racing simulator in video games to forefront of movies and claim their stake in the racer films.
You may remember De Luca and Brunetti from their work producing ?The Social Network? in 2010; but now the duo will be re-creating Kazunori Yamauchi and Polyphony Studios popular franchise which we can generalize will have a success worldwide just off brand recognition. With Sony?s upcoming Gran Turismo 6 hitting the PS3 this holiday season, hopefully we will find out more on the official movie in the coming months.
