PINEHURST, N.C. -- For Alexandra Bozich, playing at Pinehurst is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Bozich, 14, is from Pennsylvania and her father is her caddy in this year's tournament. They both said its exciting to be playing along side some of the best teens from across the globe.
"It's not just like 30 kids, its a bunch of people. And they are not just from the United States too, so you get to play with people from out of the country, so its a good experience,? said Bozich, of the opportunity.
The US Kids Teen tournament will run through the weekend, then next week, more than 1,200 kids, ranging from 5 to 12 years old will be on the course.
"It's heart warming when you come out, and you see this many kids enjoying golf at a very high level at Pinehurst with their families and friends watching. They are competing for a world championship and they are doing it at Pinehurst, in North Carolina, its great,? said Tom Pashley, executive vice president of the Pinehurst Resort.
Also, there is the historical value of the course. The players who have been here and will be here next year for the men's and women's U.S. Open tournaments that makes this even more surreal for these young adults and their families.
"Next year we will get to watch it on TV and I think that will, at her age she will get to see that history being built, I have been aware of this for years, but I think she will get into that too,? said Mark Bozich
And in the end, Alexandra said, that is really what its all about the experience.
